Architect David W. Dryden lived in the brick home on the corner of E. 26th St. and Gilpin St. in the late 1880s in the Whittier Neighborhood. He designed and built three houses on Gilpin St. and they may be some of the earliest examples of his work. Dryden was a practicing architect in Denver from 1886 until his retirement in 1912.  He designed the Frank Taylor House, a Denver Landmark, and designed 23 public schools in Denver over a 10-year period. Several of which have been listed as local landmarks.
