Bail Bond Corner

Printer-friendly version

Before the Golden Triangle became the center of civic life in Denver, the neighborhood housed a significant population with a diversity of housing types. While isolated artifacts (e.g., the Evans School, the Byers-Evans House, and several multi-unit structures) survive, most of the modest free-standing houses that once proliferated the neighborhood have vanished. Remarkably, the twelve nearly contiguous structures lining W. 13th Ave. and Delaware St., survive. This site represents of the neighborhood's residential history better than any other remaining resources. The bail bond business that saved these structures through near constant occupation for much of the last century, however, may not have much of a future. Increasing pressure to demolish and redevelop the site will necessitate a concerted community effort to conserve this unique corner of Denver.

I always thought that would make for a really interesting restaurant row or something like that...
